Mission child dies in early morning Sunday ATV crash

A 10-year-old child died early morning after crashing an ATV he was driving just after midnight Sunday morning.

In a news release, the Texas Department of Public Safety said the crash happened at 12:11 a.m. on Abram Road north of Olympus Street north of Palmview.

“Preliminary investigation revealed a Polaris RZR ATV (occupied by two males only) was traveling southbound on Abram Road when the driver lost control, and the ATV rolled over,” the release stated.

The driver is 10-year-old Dylan Roque, a Mission resident, according to DPS.

The agency said he was transported to DHR in Edinburg, where he died.

DPS said the passenger “sustained non-incapacitating injuries.”

The agency did not disclose the age of the passenger.

The crash remains under investigation.
