Chamber of Commerce, Mexican Consulate partner to help small businesses

The Brownsville Chamber of Commerce announced this week they are partnering with the Mexican Consulate to host the 4th annual Spanish-speaking entrepreneur forum to support small businesses during COVID-19.

The objective of the event is to provide a space where the entrepreneurial ecosystem is promoted among attendees and entrepreneurs from the Rio Grande Valley and the Matamoros region, the press release reads.

The three-day series will be hosted via zoom and Facebook live on the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce page.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to continue our collaboration with the Consulate of Mexico in Brownsville through a virtual medium,” President and CEO of the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce Esmeralda Villarreal said in the press release.

The first forum will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday and it’s titled “Smart Start: Business Planning to be better prepared to become successful entrepreneurs” will be presented by Arturo Gonzalez, senior business & trade advisor at UTRGV Small Businesses Development Center.

The second forum will take place at the same time on Nov.17 and will talk about commercial reopening procedures. This forum will be presented by Constanza Miner, retail and redevelopment manager for the City of Brownsville.

During the same day, there will also be a presentation on a general overview of the U.S. Small Business Administration by Veronica Chavez, outreach and marketing specialist for the U.S. Small Business Administration Lower RGV Office followed by a presentation by Financial Advisor from Wells Fargo Elsa Tatiana Balli where she will talk about financial education.

The last forum will take place at the same time on Nov. 19 and will kick off with a presentation by Marcela Ronquillo Hinojosa, founding principal of Newspace Capital & CEO of Newspace Capital LLC and will continue with a presentation on Marketing by Branding Coach Giselle Mascarenhas-Villarreal.
