Cameron County reports 3 COVID-19 deaths

Three more Cameron County residents have died from COVID-19 related causes, the county health department reported Friday.

This raises the total number of coronavirus-related deaths here to 1,078, Cameron County Public Health said in a statement.

The deaths were reported in Brownsville and Harlingen. They included one person in his 40s and two people in their 70s.

Also Friday, the health department said it has received confirmation on an additional 39 COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of coronavirus cases in Cameron County to 23,976.

New cases were reported in Brownsville, Harlingen, Laguna Vista, San Benito and Santa Maria.

The new cases include five children ages 9 and younger, 11 people ages 10 to 19, six people in their 20s, three people in their 30s, one person in his 40s, four people in their 50s, two people in their 60s and one person in her 90s.

There have also been an additional 43 individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 21,749.
