5 more BPUB employees test positive for COVID-19

BPUB says five additional employees tested positive for COVID-19. Their test results all came back positive this week and that all of the employees were last at the facility between July 13 and 26.

The utility company says it has taken several actions as a precautionary measure, including:

  • A deep cleaning of the employees’ work areas
  • A deep cleaning of common areas
  • Working with city and county health officials

BPUB will continue to follow CDC guidelines for workplace safety, require employees to use facial coverings, promote good hygiene practices and share health, safety and travel guidelines with all employees.

BPUB wants to reassure customers that there is still staff on hand for ongoing electric, water and wastewater operations and customer service inquiries. Many departments are working from remote locations until the pandemic eases. BPUB offices have been closed to visitors and customers since March 17.
