The inaugural Rio Grande Valley Startup Week, kicking off Friday in Brownsville, will feature sponsors and speakers from Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin and all across the Valley, plus a schedule cram-packed with presentations, bilingual business workshops and other events targeting budding and/or established entrepreneurs on both sides of the border.

Rio Grande Valley voters will have one more chance to cast their vote for the May 4 elections with the conclusion of early voting on Tuesday.

Like rain, good news is in short supply in the May-July outlook for the Rio Grande Valley and deep South Texas ranchlands from the National Weather Service Brownsville-RGV station.

I have seen similar stickers on cars. I have seen them on T-shirts. Evidently the nugatory complaints against the current administration do not lend themselves to serious or substantive discourse, so vulgarities are all the pro-Trump rabble have left. It diminishes both their standing and their argument — or lack thereof.

According to city officials, if voters approve the proposed Greater Brownsville Municipal Development District, or MDD, on May 4, it will mean a lot more money to spend on more projects — including quality-of-life projects — in more places.

A U.S. Marine who was killed at Camp Pendleton in California last week has been identified as a McAllen native.
