New dates, same location

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND — From fundraisers to concerts, the coronavirus pandemic appears to have thrown a curve in the plans of several events.

As a result, several organizers are making accommodations.

Composed of wind, brass and percussion instruments, banda music enthusiasts will still be able to attend these adjusted concerts.

Originally scheduled for April 10 and 11, the SPI Banda Fest will be held at a later date.

Gerardo Ortiz’s performance has been postponed to Friday, July 31.

The concerts of Banda el Recodo and Banda el Recoditos are rescheduled for Friday, Sept. 4.

Both concerts will be held on the Island at the Cameron County Amphitheater and Event Center in Isla Blanca Park.

According to event organizers, tickets that have already been purchased will be valid for the new date.

Additionally, ticket purchasers’ sections and seats will remain the same.

“This decision comes at a time of global uncertainty and we take it very seriously the safety and health of the public, staff, artists and the community at large,” Cameron County Amphitheater and Event Center representatives stated in an announcement. “Thank you all for your support and see you soon.”
