Representatives from Local Blue Ribbon Schools are currently being recognized by the Department of Education at an awards ceremony in Washington.
The event is being live-streamed today from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at nationalblueribbonschools.ed.gov.
Only 26 schools in Texas received the Blue Ribbon recognition, with 10 of them being in the Rio Grande Valley.
The La Joya, Roma, Hidalgo, Mission, Brownsville, McAllen and Valley View school districts, including IDEA Public Schools, each had a least one campus earning a distinction.
