Harlingen Police are searching for a man they tried to apprehend for allegedly shoplifting at the H-E-B on 1213 S. Commerce St.
Police say the suspect ran away around 10:20 a.m. after officers chased him down for shoplifting.
Officers were doing a routine patrol of the grocery store when officers said the suspect dropped the items he was taking with him and ran.
HPD Commander David Osborne said officers chased the suspect several blocks, but he began to jump fences and they lost him near Greenway Street.
Authorities believe the suspect may live in that area and continue to check his whereabouts.
