SOUTH PADRE ISLAND — A new date and location have been made for AEP Texas’ Transmission Rebuild Open House meeting.
AEP Texas will host an open house to discuss its power transmission system projects for Port Isabel and the Island Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the South Padre Island Community Center at 4501 Padre Boulevard.
Miles of the main roads in the Laguna Madre Area are expected to be lined with wide transmission lines that reach up to about110 feet.
According to an AEP press release, the power transmission system will better withstand adverse Gulf Coast weather.
Additionally, AEP representatives say the power transmission system will reduce the likelihood and duration of power outages.
The project is part of AEP’s $51 million rehabilitation program.
