Border Bash moves to Harlingen

HARLINGEN — After years of showcasing cars and trucks in Mercedes, the Border Bash Custom Truck and Car and Tattoo Expo will move to a new location in anticipation of larger crowds.

Valley Race Park, located at 2601 S. Ed Carey Drive, will host this weekend’s event, starting Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and continuing Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased online for $20 for the weekend pass or $15 for a one-day pass.

Performances by local artists and vendors will be on site.

The other big attraction besides the car show is the tattoo artist exhibition.

Two local tattoo artists will be demonstrating their skills, with another six artists coming from San Antonio.

Chris Schneider, event organizer from Heat Wave Company, said the event has been very successful since 2011.

“We do several events throughout the year, but one of our biggest happens during Spring Break in South Padre Island,” Schneider said.

“Border Bash used to be hosted in Mercedes but we decided to move it to Harlingen because of how many spectators we are expecting,” he said.
