La Feria boil water notice lifted

LA FERIA — A precautionary boil water notice was lifted Thursday.

The city was experiencing low water pressure, and according to the City Hall Facebook page, crew members replaced a broken valve and waited for a new motor to arrive for the water clarifier.

After the motor was replaced, water pressure was normalized and everything went back to normal, according to a press release.

A statement by Mayor Olga H. Maldonado said there was no water contamination.

“Our City’s water plant main valve is being replaced due to a malfunction. We are receiving some relief via additional water flow as a result of the water interconnects with Harlingen. This will continue until the problem is fixed,” she said on Facebook.

Because of this issue, City Hall had issued a boil notice.

The notice was lifted Thursday and residents were able to return to their regular activities, without having to boil the water before using it.
