Red Cross in need of volunteers

HARLINGEN — Looking for a way to help in the aftermath of the flooding?

The American Red Cross is in need of volunteers.

Since torrential rainfall plagued the Valley last week, the Red Cross has assisted shelters with basic needs to provide comfort and relief to residents who were affected by the floods.

In less than a week, the Red Cross has served more than 1,700 meals and snacks and provided more than 600 shelter stays to people in need.

Now the organization is in desperate need of volunteers to donate their time and energy to assist in helping.

If you know anyone who needs help because of the storms they can call 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767).

Anyone interested in volunteering with Red Cross is urged to log onto their website www.redcross.org/volunteer and fill out an application.
