Boys and Girls Club to host bingo game

SAN BENITO — Looking to play bingo and help raise money for local kids?

The Boys and Girls Club of San Benito will be hosting a Loteria Fundraiser today.

A ticket costs $20 and includes three cards and an opportunity to play a minimum of 20 games.

Board member Lori Ortega said the Loteria fundraiser is something the club has done in the past.

“It’s a good opportunity to get the community involved in supporting the Boys and Girls Club,” Ortega said.

Participants will have the chance to win a variety of donated prizes such as Kendra Scott earrings, designer tumblers or various gift cards for restaurants and stores.

“I think everyone will be happy with the gifts that have been donated,” Ortega said. “We have a lot of fun and neat things that I think people would want.”

Those wanting to attend can purchase tickets from board members or at the door if seats are available.

More than 70 out of 100 tickets have already been sold for the event, but seats may open up today.

The bingo game is one of many upcoming fundraisers scheduled for the year.

The organization is hoping to raise money for special projects including a facilities renovation with the focus on the gym.

“It’s what gets used the most for the club and we want to make it the best as possible,” Ortega said.

In addition to the bingo game, the club has scheduled its annual golf tournament and a fun run in the spring.

Ortega said the board is focusing on creating relationships with the community when it comes to fundraising.

The event is at 1 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of San Benito, 410 N. Stookey Road.
