Deputies recover $6K in electronics stolen from convention center construction site

HARLINGEN — Deputies recovered more than $6,000 in stolen property over the weekend.

During a press conference with the Cameron County Sheriff’s office, Captain Javier Reyna said the Sheriff’s office responded to a call of a burglary Wednesday, March 21.

Items were stolen from a contractor’s trailer at the construction site of the future Harlingen Convention Center.

Deputies apprehended Rodolfo Martinez, 28, in connection with the stolen items on Saturday. Martinez was charged with evading arrest, resisting arrest and possession of cocaine.

The department anticipates making more arrests in the coming days. Bail has not been set for Martinez as he is still pending arraignment.
