Alert issued for gulf captains

HARLINGEN — Strong southeast winds combined with high pressure over the gulf has prompted weather forecasters to issue a small craft advisory through 6 p.m.

Seas will continue to build to as high as four to seven feet today in gulf waters from Boca Chica Beach to Port Mansfield.

Winds will be southeasterly from 15 to 25 knots.

Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid navigating in these conditions.
