SWAT raid nets three suspects in San Benito

SAN BENITO — The Cameron County Sheriff Department’s SWAT team raided a residence in San Benito just before 1 p.m. Tuesday, and seized drugs and arrested three people.

Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio said investigators obtained a search warrant for a residence at 33482 Cactus Rd., which is just outside the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge.

During a search of the residence, authorities discovered a little more than one pound of marijuana, 76 grams of cocaine and 3.73 grams of Xanax pills, Lucio said.

Authorities arrested Rigoberto Zavala, 30; Josue Emmanuel Munoz-Delgado, 19; and Jesus Ibarra, 30.

All three suspects are charged with two counts of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance, along with a charge of delivery of marijuana, jail records show.

However, Ibarra is facing more charges, including failure to identify and a charge of assault on a public servant, for which he had an outstanding warrant.

Court records show that Ibarra was arrested May 24, 2017, on the charge and pleaded guilty to it last October.

An indictment against Ibarra indicates that he struck, punched and pushed a Harlingen police officer who was investigating a crime.

Ibarra was sentenced to three years probation, but in January of this year his probation was revoked and a warrant issued for his arrest after he failed to appear at a court hearing, records show.

As of yesterday morning, all three were still in jail.
