HARLINGEN — There is no occasion quite like the annual style show luncheon that will bring glitz and glamour to town to help Loaves & Fishes keep on giving.
“This is one of our two main fundraisers out of the year,” said Bill Reagan, Loaves and Fishes executive director. “It’s the biggest, most established event in town.”
Women from the area will be walking the runway showing off their style and elegance at this year’s fashion show.
Reagan will be dressed in his tuxedo at the luncheon.
The annual event benefits Loaves & Fishes of the Rio Grande Valley, allowing it to continue offering meals and shelter every day to those in desperate need.
Annually the event draw’s anywhere from $30,000 to $50,000 in funds to continue helping the giving organization.
“It is an important and significant part of our income,” Reagan said.
Annually Loaves & Fishes serves more than 100,000 meals in Harlingen and Raymondville combined.
The facility also offers nursing and sleeping arraignments to those in need.
Reagan said anyone who needs a place to stay must arrive before 6 p.m. for admittance.
The shelter is open seven days a week, 365 days out of the year.
There is limited seating available for the show and guests are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time.
“We would not want to turn anybody away,” Reagan said. “It’s going to be a very fancy affair.”
