Santa Rosa schools budget merits award

SANTA ROSA — Basketball trophies aren’t the only awards taken by the school district so far this year.

The Santa Rosa school district’s business office has made its mark with its efforts to increase and provide transparent financial information for all stakeholders of the district.

The Association of School Business Officials International recently recognized the Santa Rosa ISD business and finance office for excellence in budget presentation with its Meritorious Budget Award for the 2017-2018 budget year.

“Congratulations to our business office,” Superintendent Heriberto Villarreal said. “I appreciate all of your efforts to ensure the best practices for our District.”

With a swift swipe and click of a button, anyone can find financial information about the district on its website.

Villarreal congratulated Chief Financial Officer David Robledo for his work and commitment to excellence.

“School business officials can enhance their budget presentation just by applying for an MBA (Meritorious Budget Award),” said John Musso, ASBO International executive director.

“The application process helps school officials create an easy-to-read accurate budget document that clearly communicates the district’s goals and objectives, and builds credibility and trust with their community.”
