LYFORD — The city’s standing behind a proposal to build the biggest apartment development in town.
Sunny Philip, La Feria’s longtime former city manager, is proposing a 70-unit “affordable” development at 7850 Expressway 77.
The city struggles with low numbers of rental property, officials said.
Last week, city commissioners presented Philip with a $300 commitment and a resolution supporting the project.
Next, Philip is expected to apply to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs for federal tax credits to help fund the project.
