Road conditions are difficult to travel this morning.
San Benito Police Chief Michael Galvan says FM 732, south of San Benito remains closed this morning. He says last night there were several multi-car accidents on that stretch highway.
Galvan said some overpasses still have ice at the top of overpass. The Texas Department of Transportation is urging cities to close the expressway, but it is not an easy task because some area of the expressway are already open in other cities.
The expressway is also closed from San Benito to Brownsville because of icy conditions. The Texas Department of Transportation will be applying deicing solution in hopes of reopening the road soon.
The frontage roads are open in both directions.
The flyover, the massive overpass near Valle Vista Mall and Bass Pro Shop, is open in both directions from – from Haringen to McAllen and from Harlingen to Brownsville.
The northbound overpass headed from Harlingen towards Raymondville overpass appears to be closed with at least one 18-wheeler stalled on the highway.
While the expressway is open some of the on-ramps remain closed.
