Grocery delivery service to come to the Valley

HARLINGEN — Too busy to make it to the grocery store?

Soon, grocery shopping in the Valley will become easier than ever.

Starting today, Shipt, a grocery delivery service, will be teaming up with local H-E-Bs to ship groceries and household items straight to customers’ doors.

Following Curbside Delivery, Shipt is H-E-Bs latest attempt to make shopping for groceries as convenient as possible for customers.

In May of 2016, Shipt entered a partnership with H-E-B in San Antonio to provide services to local residents.

Since then, the partnership has expanded to 14 markets in Texas.

Looking to grow, Shipt is opening up in new markets including the Harlingen, Brownsville and McAllen metro areas.

For an annual fee of $99, customers will be able to receive unlimited grocery deliveries on orders of $35 or more.

Customers will be able to select a membership plan, download an app on their phones and order their groceries.

Shipt shoppers are hired and trained to pick out the right produce and products from what customers order and deliver it straight to a customer’s door.

Groceries are delivered within the same day and can be as soon as one hour from when the order was placed.

The expansion to the Valley will provide opportunities of employment for residents.

Shipt shoppers must be at least 18 years old with a personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license.

How does Shipt work?
  1. Sign up and choose a membership plan
  2. Order and pay from the Shipt app
  3. Local SHIPT shoppers will select items chosen
  4. Items are delivered as soon as one hour from order placement
