10th annual Rotary Ride hits the road this weekend

The Rotary Club of Historic Brownsville will host its 10th annual Rotary Ride on Sunday with all proceeds from the event to support the club’s local projects.

The Rotary Club of Historic Brownsville will host its 10th annual Rotary Ride on Sunday with all proceeds from the event to support the club’s local projects.

The ride begins at 8 a.m. Sunday at the Brownsville Event Center, located at Paredes Line Road and 1 Event Drive, and will end at Louie’s Backyard, located at 2305 Laguna Blvd., on South Padre Island. The ride will go over the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway.

Diego Garza, membership chairman, said nearly 100 bicyclists have already signed up for the event and anticipates that on Sunday there will be 300 riders.

People interested in participating in the event can register online at Active.com until Friday. Registrations are also taking place at Bicycle World at 1275 N. Expressway, J.T. Cycling at 1601 E. Alton Gloor Blvd., and 7th and Park at 1554 E. 7th St.

Registrations will also be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Bicycle World at 1275 N. Expressway, J.T. Cycling at 1601 E. Alton Gloor Blvd., and 7th and Park at 1554 E. 7th St.

Late registrations will be held at 7 a.m. Sunday on the day of the event.

The registration fee is $35 per person which includes lunch at Louie’s Backyard after the ride.
