Biker groups backing up Harvey relief efforts

HARLINGEN — The whomp-whomp-whomp of their motorcycles are loud enough to sound like a thunderous hurricane tearing through a city street.

That will be the sound some San Benito and McAllen residents are going to hear.

On Thursday seven area law enforcement motorcycle clubs who banded together will roll into San Benito and McAllen to gather non-perishable food and water for the people who were hit hardest by Hurricane Harvey.

“We all have family and friends in the Rockport area,” said Freddy Ramos, Southern Justice, McAllen chapter vice president said. “We have comrades that have been affected by this devastation.”

He said his brother-in-law is being affected by the devastation just as many other are in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

Southern Justice motorcycle club has been active ten years in the Valley and like the other partnering biker organizations actively help the community with fundraisers.

Southern Justice just came off a back-to-school relief effort for area students in need of school supplies.

The other clubs involved are the Blue Knights, The Sentinels, The Reguladores, Law Dogs, and Iron Saints.

“This is a multi motorcycle club venture,” Ramos said. “We are partnering with other law enforcement motorcycle clubs to help make the most impact.”

More than 100 law enforcement motorcycle club members will be working together in San Benito and McAllen to gather the supplies to send to people in need.

“We are just trying to pull together as a community to give a helping hand,” Ramos said.
