HPD: Local woman stabbed in the face

HARLINGEN — Police have arrested a man after they say he stabbed a woman in the face.

Officers were called at 6 a.m. on Saturday to the 2000 block of East Jackson Avenue in reference to an assault.

When they arrived, contact was made with a woman who told them a man identified as Jose Flores, 41, had assaulted her with a cutting instrument, causing her serious bodily injuries to the left side of her face, police said in a statement.

The victim told police that when she arrived at her home in the early morning, Flores proceeded to stab her about her face and neck area, the statement said.

She was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Officers then made contact with a second woman who told them Flores had assaulted her by striking her about the left side of her face with a closed fist, according to the police statement.

Flores was arrested and transported to the city jail.

He was arraigned on a first-degree felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a Class A misdemeanor charge of assault.

His bond was set at $110,000.
