UTRGV to host High Scholars program for aspiring scientists

More than 100 high school students will have the opportunity to conduct their own original scientific research at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley this summer.

The UTRGV College of Sciences will host its second annual High Scholars program, a nine-week research program for high school juniors and seniors interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.

This year, the 145 high school students accepted into the program will work with a mentor and use the university’s state-of-the-art research facilities.

The program will conclude Aug. 4 with a symposium where students will present and discuss their research findings and one or more student-mentor teams will be awarded top team research awards.
