Man killed by train

HARLINGEN — A man was killed in the early morning hours yesterday when he was struck by a train.

The accident happened on the tracks that run along Commerce Street between Fair Park Avenue and Wilson Road.

Police closed the intersections for several hours as they investigated the fatality, which happened about 3:35 a.m.

The road was reopened a few hours later.

As of yesterday, the identity of the man was unknown, but his age appears to be in the mid 20s to early 30s, police said.

The investigation continues.
