Re: U-Haul article.
I thought readers might find this interesting.
In 1950, we were moving from Iowa to Austin, for my disabled husband to attend the University of Texas.
I pulled one of the early U-Haul’s filled with our few earthly goods.
Our country was still in the process of changing from war effort to civilian life.
There was so much movement in our country and a couple came up with the idea of the U-Haul.
The U-Haul was like our horse trailers – just black slats and on the very bottom slat in the back was stenciled: “U-Haul.”
We had to purchase a huge tarp to cover our belongings. When I tell this to young people they are amazed.
Just a bit of history.
