HARLINGEN — The 10th Annual Jackson Street Car Show drew hundreds of car enthusiasts to the downtown area yesterday.
The show is organized by the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America.
“This is our 10th anniversary and we’re excited,” said Club President Moises Mendoza, Jr. “Everything is cooperating with us.”
The sun was shining and a light breeze was blowing as the enthusiasts enjoyed the show.
People from all over the Valley strolled down the street admiring and photographing the vehicles.
There were 253 cars lined up along Jackson Avenue, most with their hoods open to show off the shiny chrome motor components, which glistened in the bright morning sunshine.
The cars were placed in 16 categories and each category had Best of Show, First Runner-up and Second Runner-up.
“At the very end we have the Carl Johnson Award, which is the best of show,” Mendoza said. “This is awarded to an individual car that we think is the best looking or the most unique car at the car show today.”
