District to host Parent Conference tomorrow

SAN BENITO – This weekend, parents will be able to obtain an abundant amount of information when they attend Saturday’s District Parent Conference.

The event will start at 8 a.m. and run until 2 p.m. at San Benito High School tomorrow.

With the theme of “Aim, Acquire, Achieve,” the conference will feature guest speaker Justice of the Texas Thirteenth Court of Appeals Gina M. Benavides and keynote speaker Guillermo “Willie” Lopez, a nationally known motivational speaker of Homeboy Goes to Harvard Productions.

Attendees will have several breakout sessions to select from, including district initiative sessions as well as sessions about community outreach services.

The conference will also feature sessions about district programs such as Special Education, GEAR Up, Higher Education/College Dual Enrollment/Advanced Placement, Career Technical Education, Bilingual Program, and the Gifted and Talented Program.

The conference will also include sessions related to mental health and provide attendees with sessions offered by various school-community partnerships.

San Benito CISD is seeking local parents’ E-mail addresses in preparation of the upcoming District Parent Conference.

The information will facilitate the process of setting up the parent portal accounts in time for the conference.
