New women’s magazine out today

HARLINGEN — It’s colorful, glossy, professional and free. And it arrived in boxes at the Valley Morning Star Tuesday.

Valley Women Inspire is the newest product created by the staff at the Star and those involved are excited for the distribution of this first edition.

“This is a magazine intended to empower, enlighten, entertain and most of all inspire area women,” Valley Morning Star and Inspire editor Lisa Seiser said yesterday. “There is no publication like this in the Valley and we couldn’t be happier to present it to our great residents. We know everyone will love the local content and stories you can’t read anywhere else.”

The quarterly publication features local women and their stories as well as providing information about fashion, crafts, beauty, fitness, culinary, health and much more.

This first edition has a story about Harlingen’s Jo Rae Wagner, owner of Colletti’s and The Reese. You probably didn’t know her business CTO started out with one truck and two employees more than 40 years ago. Now it is a $20 million company.

Inspire also has another story about San Benito realtor Velma De Los Santos, who spends her days selling real estate and her evenings following her passion for music and the theater.

Features on fashion, making jewelry and the fad of juicing also are part of the first edition of this 32-page magazine.

“When you see this magazine in salons, retail stores, doctor’s offices, the hospitals and anywhere else women spend their time and money, make sure you pick it up and take it home,” Seiser said. “We know you will enjoy paging through this magazine and share it with your friends.”

The next edition will be out in June and just like anything, it is expected to be even better than the first one.

“I love this first edition, but there are some things we are going to keep doing better as we keep moving forward,” Seiser said. “I am thrilled with how it turned out and am looking forward to creating a great future with this magazine.”
