Small-craft advisory issued for Laguna Madre, gulf

HARLINGEN — The National Weather Service in Brownsville has issued a small-craft advisory for the Laguna Madre.

Interaction between high and low pressure areas is bringing rough seas and very strong winds to the region.

The small-craft advisory for the bay will be in effect until 8 a.m. Wednesday and covers the area from Brownsville all the way north to Baffin Bay.

A small-craft advisory for the Gulf of Mexico, where seas are ranging from five to eight feet and as high as nine to 10 feet, remains in effect until 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Winds from the southeast will be from 23 to 30 mph through Wednesday morning.

Inexperienced mariners, or those in smaller craft, should avoid operating craft in these conditions.
