A new place to call home: Farmers market to move, expand

HARLINGEN — Just like a plant that has outgrown its pot, the Harlingen Farmers Market has outgrown A Street.

After seven years, the Farmers Market will have its own new location and a new facility thanks to the city.

The city is using a $175,000 grant from the Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation to provide a shelter for the farmers market at its new site at the City Hall parking lot.

Earlier this week, city commissioners agreed to allow the farmers market to set up shop later this year at the parking lot in the 100 block of East Tyler Avenue.
