Zika virus investigation ongoing in McAllen

McALLEN — A case of the Zika virus is under investigation by city and county officials here. This would mark the first case of Zika in McAllen and the seventh in Hidalgo County, dating back to 2015, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

McALLEN — A case of the Zika virus is under investigation by city and county officials here. This would mark the first case of Zika in McAllen and the seventh in Hidalgo County, dating back to 2015, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Cameron County has had 18 cases spanning back to 2015. There were 309 Zika cases in Texas from December 2015 through December 2016, the department said.

There is a scheduled press conference to discuss the ongoing investigation later this afternoon.
