Woodcarvers whittling away for annual Chip-o-Tex event

HARLINGEN — Lindell Graham sanded away the rough edges of his crappie fish that he carved out of wood.

He said his next step would be to create the fish scales with a wood burner and color the model.

And over the next week he’s also carving a sun fish for the Chip-o-Tex Woodcarvers annual show.

The club will host its 27th annual Chip-O-Tex Woodcarvers show next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10 and 11 at Casa de Amistad in Harlingen.

The event is open to the public and is expected to draw more than 1,000 spectators throughout the two-day event.
