Groundbreaking for two additional special needs parks

A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Tuesday morning for the new all-inclusive playgrounds being built at Pendleton and Victor parks.

The ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at Pendleton Park, 1427 Morgan Blvd. Earlier this month the city held a similar ceremony at Lon C. Hill Park.

All are part of a $1.3 million project to build three playgrounds for special needs children.

A partnership between the city and the Harlingen school district will fund and build playgrounds at Pendleton and Victor parks.

The Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation, Harlingen Sunburst Rotary Club and banker Rollins Koppel helped fund the playground at Lon C. Hill Park
