Still searching for Nahomi

HARLINGEN — It’s been nearly six months since Nahomi Rodriguez disappeared.

But local, county, state and federal law enforcement is far from giving up.

Yesterday, several agencies, including the Harlingen Police Department, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, the Department of Public Safety, Cameron County Emergency Management, the FBI and Cameron County Sheriff’s office and district attorney’s office, all came together to search for the missing San Benito teen.

Rodriguez went missing following her late shift at the Harlingen McDonald’s, at 602 N. 77 Sunshine Strip, on July 17. She has yet to be located.

Despite following up on a specific lead on her possible whereabouts, law enforcement came up empty Monday.

According to a Harlingen PD press release, “an extensive operation was conducted today (Monday) that unfortunately eliminated that tip as credible and the operation was completed without locating Nahomi and bringing her home.”

Police Chief Jeffry Adickes said it has been a long six months for all involved in the case, but every effort is being made to “bring Nahomi home.”

“Though we are still receiving tips, we are disappointed this latest tip, which was most specific, did not produce results,” Adickes said. “We continue to support the family and look with optimism to 2017 as we have seen with other cases around the country.”
