HARLINGEN — Police have identified the Harlingen man who was struck by a vehicle and left for dead Tuesday night.

At 9:24 p.m., Harlingen officers responded to the 900 block of W. Tyler Avenue in reference to an auto-pedestrian incident.

That’s where they found Jeffrey Wall, 52, lying in the roadway, dead.

Police said the driver had fled the scene.

Later on, during the investigation, the suspect’s vehicle was located and secured for investigation purposes.

The driver, a 24-year-old Harlingen man, later turned himself into police yesterday around noon after an active police search.

His identity will not be released until he is formally arraigned on charges.

Police said that might occur as early as today.

He is awaiting arraignment on charges of accident involving death, a second-degree felony.

The Harlingen Highway Enforcement Unit and Major Crime’s unit will be conducting their investigation into this fatal hit-and-run accident.
