Wind advisory issued for most of Rio Grande Valley

The National Weather Service Office in Brownsville has issued a wind advisory for most of the Rio Grande Valley today.

The advisory will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. The counties included in the advisory are Cameron, Hidalgo and Willacy.

The NWS reports the strongest winds will occur between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. They will diminish later this afternoon. Wind gust of up to 35 mph hour are anticipated.

Residents are encouraged to tie down light to moderate weight items that are kept outdoors. High profile or light weight vehicles will be hard to drive especially on bridges and overpasses in the crosswinds.

A wind advisory means that wind of 30 to 39 mph are expected.
