Fill the cruiser

SAN BENITO — It didn’t take long for members of the San Benito Police Department to fill up the back seat of a cruiser with new and unwrapped toys.

Yesterday, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. several officers were stationed outside the Wal-Mart located at 1126 W. U.S. Highway 77 accepting the gifts for children.

The toys will toward the children at Toys for Tots who are in need this holiday season.

For more than 20 years, the Marine Corps’ established toy drive has provided toys to children in need all over the country.

Over its lifespan, the program has distributed more than 512 million toys to more than 237 million children all over the United States.
