San Benito school board to discuss finances

SAN BENITO — The school board will meet tonight to discuss finances.

It’s part of the Re-Imagine 2021 Strategic Plan.

In June, the district released its findings from an efficiency audit that showed some troubling results.

According to the results, problems were found in all areas, including in the finance category.

School district officials say they have already begun the process to fix the issues.

Superintendent Dr. Adrian Vega will update the board on several items, including cash account reports, the student cash accounts, budget summaries and tax collections.

In addition, they will deliberate on extending contracts for grocery services, general merchandise and parts and supplies.

Officials will also discuss and possibly vote to purchase video surveillance equipment for the Sonny Brazil Agriculture Center.

The center is located behind San Benito Veterans Memorial Academy.

School officials say that the agenda item is just a precaution in an effort to secure the facility.

Several school projects are housed at the center.
