Stabbing victim is out of hospital; doesn’t remember attack

RAYMONDVILLE — A Raymondville woman who was stabbed multiple times and left on the side of a road has been released from the hospital.

However, Gracie Cantu-Ledesma doesn’t remember what happened to her, authorities said.

“She doesn’t remember much of anything. She doesn’t remember why she was in the hospital or anything,” Willacy County Sheriff Larry Spence said yesterday.

“Hopefully, some of that will start to come back to her.”

He said she is now with family members. He is not certain of her age.

Authorities are asking for help in finding the person who stabbed her.

“There are no new developments in the case; no new leads,” Spence said.

“If anybody has anything, they can contact the Sheriff’s Office” at 956-689-5576.

A man driving to work around 7:30 a.m. Aug. 26 found Cantu-Ledesma unconscious on the side of FM 2629 about three miles east of U.S. 77 near Sebastian.

Spence said she had been stabbed more than a dozen times, including in her throat.
