The Coast Guard on Tuesday stopped a lancha off South Padre Island and seized 500 pounds of illegally caught red snapper.

“A Coast Guard Station South Padre Island boat crew in coordination with Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi watch standers and Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi aircrews located and stopped five Mexican fishermen engaged in illegal fishing north of the Maritime Boundary Line,” a news release stated.

The Coast Guard detained the men and transferred them to U.S. Customs and Border Protection for further processing.
