Man cited for causing accident, 4 children, 2 adults sent to hospital

SANTA ROSA — A man was cited for causing an accident that sent four children and two adults to the hospital after two vehicles crashed north of town, a state trooper said.

All six were released from Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen shortly after they were taken there for observation following the crash.

The crash occurred on FM 506 just north of FM 507 about 6:50 p.m. Friday, Sgt. Maria Montalvo of the Texas Department of Public Safety said yesterday.

Montalvo said the driver, whose name was not available, was southbound when her Nissan Sentra hit an eastbound Ford Expedition after that vehicle’s driver failed to yield.

The Expedition’s driver and passenger were not taken to the hospital, Montalvo said.

But the driver, whose name was not available, was cited for failure to yield at an intersection, driving without a driver’s license and driving without insurance, Montalvo said.

She said no other information was available yesterday.
