A Corpus Christi meat processor is recalling thousands of pounds of ground beef sold at H-E-B because it may contain pieces of metal.
Sam Kane Beef Processors is recalling 60,350 pounds of H-E-B Hill Country Fare ground beef sold in three, five and 10-pound packages, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced yesterday.
The ground beef packages were produced on July 26 and include the following:
H 10-pound chubs containing “Hill Country Fare Ground Beef” 73 percent Lean/27 percent Fat with a Packed On date of 7/26/2016, a Use-By date of 8/15/2016, and bearing case code number 00090180.
H Five-pound chubs containing “Hill Country Fare Ground Beef” 73 percent Lean/27 percent Fat with a Packed On date of 7/26/2016, a Use-By date of 8/15/2016, and bearing case code number 00090150.
H Three-pound chubs containing “Hill Country Fare Ground Beef” 73 percent Lean/27 percent Fat with a Packed On date of 7/26/2016, a Use-By date of 8/15/2016, and bearing case code number 00090170.
The package has the establishment number “EST. 337” inside the USDA mark of inspection or on the product packaging seam.
The contaminated meat was shipped to three HEB Grocery distribution centers in Texas.
The company says it learned of the problem when a customer found a small piece of metal in a package. Consumers are urged to throw away the meat or return it to H-E-B.
