Police: Drunk driver strikes motorcyclist at intersection

HARLINGEN – Police have arrested a women they say was drunk when she crashed into a motorcycle at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Loop 499 and East Grimes.

Officers say Taylor Nicole Ramirez, 23, was driving a white 2015 Honda Accord when she struck the motorcyclist in a yellow Kawasaki motorcycle that was stopped at the intersection.

The man was transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center with serious injuries and is in a medically induced coma.

During the investigation, police said Ramirez displayed signs of intoxication. After undergoing field sobriety tests, Ramirez was arrested and transported to the city jail for processing.

Investigators say she refused to provide a breath sample and was transported to the hospital for a blood test as part of the departments “No Refusal” policy.

Police say Ramirez and the victim left a nearby nightclub just before the accident.

Ramirez is charged with a third degree felony for intoxication assault and a class B misdemeanor for possession of marijuana. Her bond is set at $32,000.
