Woman found stabbed in Willacy County undergoing surgery

SEBASTIAN — Authorities are trying to determine the identity of a woman who was found with multiple stab wounds on the side of a road outside Sebastian this morning.

The woman, who is believed to be 20 to 30 years old, was undergoing surgery at Valley Baptist Medical Center this afternoon.

The woman is not believed to be Nahomi Rodriguez, the 19-year-old San Benito woman who has been missing since July 16.

Willacy County Sheriff Larry Spence said a motorist discovered the woman about 7:30 a.m. today on the side of FM 2629, about three miles east of U.S. 77/I-69, and called 911.

She had been stabbed multiple times, Spence said.

The sheriff’s department has contacted area law enforcement agencies to see if the woman matches the description of any missing person. Spence said the U.S. Marshal’s Service told investigators that the woman is not Rodriguez.

The woman has a tattoo on her right ankle that appears to be the letters J and L.
