SOUTH PADRE ISLAND — The Island isn’t only on the list of top destinations for its beach.
Paragraphs on Padre Boulevard, the general interest bookshop, just put the Island on the literary map for being ranked one of the top 10 favorite bookstores in Texas.
“We are very happy for that,” said Griff Mangan, store co-owner. “We have a lot of customers who come in and are just impressed with the variety of books we have.”
Last month, the Lone Star Literary Life released Literary Texas: A Guide to the Bookish Destinations, and ranked Paragraphs number three in the category of favorite Texas bookstores for 2016 out of 300 bookstores in Texas.
The rankings were selected by more than 1,000 Lone Star Literary Life’s readers who cast ballots in the statewide contest to recognize Texas’ favorite bookstores.
“We didn’t even know we were in this thing until it was down to the last 30 of them,” Mangan said.
