TSTC keeps it cool with $7.9M AC system

HARLINGEN — One local college is doing its best to stay cool.

Texas State Technical College has submitted plans to the state for a $7.9 million central chiller plant to provide air-conditioned comfort to students, staff and faculty on campus.

The new plant will be located at 1902 N. Loop 499, just south of the TSTC campus.

Plans call not just for a cooling plant but for significant piping to be added, along with office space at the complex for administrative staff.

The design firm for the project is Halff Associates, the architecture and engineering firm based in Richardson.

Halff Associates has been a major player in Harlingen and the Valley in recent years.

The firm handled the creation of the One Vision, One Harlingen master plan, the Harlingen Parks and Recreation Department’s master plan and has been commissioned to develop the Harlingen-San Benito Metropolitan Planning Organization’s regional bike and pedestrian master plan.
