HARLINGEN — It’s going to be a proud night in town tomorrow at the annual Freedom Festival community Independence Day event.
Filled with live music and a grand fireworks display to end the night.
The Freedom Festival is an event for community to gather and enjoy an evening celebrating the Fourth of July holiday.
There will be plenty of food and business vendors including local artisans, and a grand fireworks display in the evening.
There is no admission fee for Freedom Fest, located at the Lon C. Hill Park along Fair Park Boulevard near the Harlingen Municipal Auditorium, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
There will be a live performance by popular country singer Aaron Watson; tejano legend Gary Hobbs; Silver Trevino with Jessy Serrata and the New Wave Band; the Blackbirds, a Beatles-tribute band; and the talented Aaron Blount singing the National Anthem.
There will also be a magic show by Magician and Mentalist David Sage, a performance by a Michael Jackson impersonator and a visit by Lady Liberty on stilts.
Plenty of food and arts and crafts vendors as well children’s activities have been planed.
No outside food or beverages will be allowed on Freedom Fest grounds.
The public is invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating.
The City of Harlingen and the Harlingen Convention and Visitors Bureau organzied the Freedom Fest to celebrate the Fourth of July.
“It is a great holiday weekend to spend in Harlingen,” said Melissa Landin, executive director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau. “From Saturday’s Freedom Fest to Market Days Downtown to Monday’s Independence Day Run, the City is bustling with events and outdoor entertainment.”
