Two charged in burglary of San Benito furniture store, restaurant

SAN BENITO — Two men have been arrested after police say they robbed a pair of San Benito businesses.

Police say on Wednesday July 15, the suspects broke into Garza’s Furniture Store and Las Cazuela’s Restaurant.

On Friday afternoon San Benito and Harlingen police served a search warrant at a home on the 900 Block of West Wright Street in Harlingen.

There investigators arrested Usbaldo Garza, 40, and charged him with possession of a controlled substance. His bond was at $10,000.

Also charged was 20-year-old Troy Garza who police say is seen taking part in the burglary on surveillance video. He was charged with two counts of burglary of a building and engaging in organized criminal activity, with bond set at $100,000. Both men were transported to the Cameron County Jail.

Some of the stolen property was found at the home.

Arrest warrants will be issued for three remaining subjects.
